A Letter of Interest for a Instructional Technologist Position
As an instructional technologist, I am interested in the opportunity for collaboration with your instructors, instructional designers, and administrators in order to identify the best uses for technology within instruction and administrative duties while considering a variety of factors such as cost, usability, accessibility, and security that allows you to meet your educational goals. I look forward to building on the foundation you have built for continued growth and success. I take great pride in this opportunity to share my experiences and knowledge in ways that will help create success and achievement.
With the integration of technology, corporations and education must continually evolve as tech does. Information is instantaneously available and can provide new and engaging ways of learning whether it is on the job training, or within a classroom setting. Through provisions such as multimedia I can provide you with new and exciting ways to engage your learners to help produce more effective learning.
Multimedia Skills allowing creativity, computer literacy, design, communication, efficiency, and editing are crucial for learning, enhancing the learning process which leads to better knowledge retention. Multimedia in education provides students with engaging content and creates a more universal design for learning by providing students with more than one way that activates the learning process, helping to develop higher order thinking skills.
Adobe Creative Suite
Through this software I have gained proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator in graphic design, as well as Premiere Pro to create quality video production and storytelling. I have proficient experience in graphic animation through After Effects and Animate. With annual updates I make time for learning the modifications and added tools with each update that keeps my knowledge of these software held to the highest standard while completing certifications every two years.
Video Production
I am proficient in the use of camera equipment as well as radio and television automation systems through experience broadcasting live television and a wide range of productions. With the use of multiple streaming devices, switching equipment, and OBS software, I keep up to date with production procedures, as well as teaching live broadcasting procedures to my students.
Graphic Design
Outside of Photoshop and Illustrator I am proficient with platforms such as Canva and Gimp.
Photography
My experience with photography editing through Photoshop and Lightroom allowed me proficiency with this software, as well as computing platforms such as iOS and Android in order to create high quality images through social media. Annually I enroll in training to keep up with modifications to these software, and every two years I certify.
Website Creation
I am proficient in building websites through sources such as Wix, Weebly, Squarespace, and WordPress, using this experience to teach students how to create websites. Through online research and continual practice I reinforce my knowledge using these platforms and continue towards mastery.
Podcasting
Other than the use of Adobe software, I am proficient with audio recording and editing through the web based platform Bandlab to create podcasts. Like other web based platforms, I continually use this website for proficiency and through online research I try to master this skillset.
Javascript / HTML (coding)
While still a novice using Javascript, I am gaining experience in coding through Codeacademy and freeCodeCamp. My goal is to gain proficiency in coding through continual practice and research.
Through the use of Google I have gained proficiency in a variety of applications. As a current educator I use Google for each aspect of teaching whether it is for communication, providing materials and media for learning, tracking progress, or using their search engine.
I have also gained proficient experience in the use of integrating a variety of mobile applications that provide access to multimedia in order to transform learning through gamification that allows students to actively engage in learning materials.
